KODAK "HAWKEYE 2A RAINBOW MODEL" in Original Box
1931

The “Rainbow” line was only offered in 1931. It was a failed attempt to increase interest in better-quality box cameras by offering a variety of different colors. The sales approach didn't work and the line was quickly discontinued.

This Ruby Red Hawkeye is new-old-stock, meaning that the original dealer never sold it to a customer and it was stored for a century untouched. The condition is consequently perfect. The camera is literally new, and the fragile cardboard box, almost always thrown away immediately after purchase, is equally pristine. It's an incredible example of a camera surviving 90 years in flawless condition. The back is stamped with a dealer's name and address in South Bend, IN.
